Strategy Portugal is a medium and long term campaign of strategic reflection regarding the country. This process, which includes the contribution of leading experts, academics and other public and business leaders, seeks to define key strategies for the economic and social development of the country.

Strategy Portugal is the second in the Strategy Series, which was launched in Spain in early 2016. For Portugal, this reflection comes at a crucial time when the country is trying to recover from a gruelling economic and financial crisis in the wake of State and private sector over-indebtedness and the exhaustion of the economic development model.

As is widely recognised, the challenges facing the country are considerable. To grow robustly, creating wealth and quality jobs, reducing inequality and poverty, facing the reality of a shrinking population that needs the contribution of immigration in an increasingly globalised, competitive, technological and uncertain world, requires the establishment of priorities and firm policies.

This is a non-partisan project that aims to stimulate debate and reflection across the ideological spectrum, and is open to various sectors of society.

Strategy Portugal will consist of the publication of a book with a compilation of the strategies presented and the various contributions that each one makes to the debate; the holding of a conference for open discussion; and the development of discussion and reflection in the public arena, through the associated media – including Foreign Policy magazine – and on electronic platforms.

The Strategy Series has been created and organised by Peninsula Press which, in each country, seeks input from various stakeholders.
